Eurotrip: Journey to Paris

Day 8

We leave Lucerne today. And aren’t we glad we did, because it rained! Can you imagine just how freezing it would be like to go up the mountain today?!

Our journey of 11 days, marked.
And it’s a long, long drive, only stopping a few times at rest areas to go to toilet and have lunch. Most of the time duduk jela, melengung dalam bas. Tidur-tidur sikit, tengok pemandangan, baca buku…

Throughout the journey lancar je, but as soon as we reach Paris, which was at about 4.30pm, we got stuck in traffic jam. Ugh! Sampai Hotel Mercure La Defense 5 at 5.30. Kami boleh terus settle for the night sebab kami tak pilih untuk pergi River Seine Cruise tu. We were tired anyway.

The room this time was… well, just okay. Small. Very small. Barely had any place to put our bags and untuk semayang. Toilet pun basic. Thankfully ada unlimited wi-fi, although if you really think about it, it’s not entirely unlimited since they limit you from using any VoIP. Tak dapatla nak ber-skype dengan anak-anak.

Rest for about an hour, and then we went out to find dinner. Satu good thing pasal hotel ni ialah it’s situated in a business area, so we can find all kinds of food around the area. You name it, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Italian… and we found a Turkish restaurant, Halal. Alhamdulillah. Orderla kebab segala. Tapi malangnya aku tak enjoy sangat sebab ayam dia bukan entirely chicken breast, dan aku hanya boleh telan chicken breast. Any other chicken part makes me wanna puke. Sorry!

Settled for the night at around 10.30. Husband bengang sebab takde channel yang show Euro. Huhuhu.

So we are finally in the last city of our trip. I can’t believe how fast the time flies; it’s almost dreamlike. I’m now nervous about going back. Aku tau betapa senang dan selesanya the kids have settled into a routine with our parents back in Malaysia, and how everything is so exciting as they get to rotate between both homes every other day. Aku tahu Layla akan sangat-sangat bising tak nak ikut kami balik Mutiara nanti, sebab it’ll all be boring. She’ll be stuck all day with just mama and adik. Mama selalu marah-marah. Tak ada orang nak layan dia main non-stop. Ah… Nervousnya aku!

Adik pulak have grown so comfortable. I heard he’s only been waking up once for milk every night. He’s been sleeping in aircond. Alamak! Risaunya! Kalau dia dah tak selesa tidur kat our house camane? Kalau aku dah tak larat nak dukung anak sendiri camane? Tengok dalam gambar, Ilhan macam dah membesar dengan jaya je! Ahahah…

And myself? I’m not even back home and I’m already suffering from post-holiday syndrome. I’m gonna miss my uninterrupted sleep, life of leisure and fun. Hahaha. Lama beb aku meninggalkan kerja-kerja memasak, mengemas, membasuh pinggan, menyidai dan melipat baju, membasuh berak anak, memandikan anak, membuat susu anak. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Bila belek balik gambar-gambar trip ni, macam aku dengan husband pergi berdua je pulak. Berapa kerat je gambar kitorg dengan trip members yang lain. Katak bawah tempurung sungguh! Hahah. Tapi aku friendly la dengan diorang. Tak ambik gambar sama-sama je…
