Eurotrip: Classe-Venice

Day 4

Today we leave Florence and head to Venice. Hujan aje sepanjang jalan, menambahkan kedinginan suasana serta kadar kesesakan lalu lintas. Lepas 2 jam lebih on the bus, kami sampai di Classe, just a stop untuk tengok satu gereja. Seriously, aku dah lost track of the many churches that I’ve seen in this trip, and as much as I’d love to share every little detail of the places and buildings I’ve seen, I just can’t remember what the name of the church was. Had a simple lunch of cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwich dekat kafe tepi church tu. It was still raining.

Perjalanan diteruskan pada jam 12.15 tengah hari and we had one stop in between. Esther believes in stopping every 2 hours or so, so everyone can go to toilet and stretch their legs. Plus there’s this rule in Italy that says semua kenderaan pengangkutan besar macam lori dan bas kena berhenti a specific ampunt of hours every day for the driver to rest. Semua kenderaan yang berkenaan ada chip dia sendiri dan boleh dipantau pihak atasan. I find that law brilliant in order to reduce the number of road accidents. We all know how Malaysian bus and lorry drivers push themselves to cover as many trips as possible sebab mereka dibayar per trip, but them being tired dangers everyone else, not just themselves.

Anyway, kami akhirnya sampai di Venice pada jam 3 lebih petang. The initial plan was to go on the Venetian Magic optional excursion (which we opted not to go; terpaksa sacrifice some things due to financial constraints.) Tapi disebabkan it was pouring, and it won’t be fun going on boat rides in the rain, Esther arranged for us to go watch the glass blowing demonstration today instead. I was looking forward to that.

Tengok sambil telan air liur
Naik bot dari tronchetto pergi ke small island yang menempatkan kilang pembuatan kaca Murano. Oh, memang best tengok diorang buat kaca tu. Everything hand made, every piece unique, wonderful colors and shapes, RIDICULOUS prices! Hahaha. Sekali lagi aku tengok-tengok, telan-telan air liur sikit. Pastu balik. Sambil menunggu bot (dalam hujan), Aunty Rosalba dari New York ni datang payungkan aku sebab kami takde payung. Sempatlah sembang-sembang.

Toilet yang akan kurindui bila pulang nanti
Right after that we head to our hotel; Antony Palace Hotel Marcon, situated about 15 minutes outside Venice. This hotel is even better than the last one! Baru buka dalam 3 tahun. Nice room, although not as big as Novotel Firenze. Toilet dia bestttt! Shower head dia terbaik; rain shower. Good water pressure. Huge bath tub – much bigger than any tub I’ve seen in all hotels I’ve been to before. But no coffee and tea making facilities. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. And of course, the most important criteria of them all – very fast wi-fi connection.

Dinner was at 7. We Southeast Asians sat together at one table; the Lims, Celine and Magnus, and aku and husband. First course was spaghetti ala pomodoro (spaghetti in tomato sauce), followed by fried lemon fish with steamed French beans and chips, ending with ice cream cake. That was a good meal, semua happy, bergelak sakan mengutuk orangla, apela. The Lims dok complain pasal pesto pasta yang kami makan kat Florence tu. Diorang kata tak boleh telan, tak tahan bau basil. Memang sungguh-sungguh tak sukala. Sengih je aku, sebab that was my favorite so far. Hihihi.

Naik bilik 9 lebih tu, semayang-semayang terus tido. Aku terfikir pasal local Muslims kat sini bila cakap pasal waktu semayang. Subuh dia pukul 3.15 camtu. Matahari terbit dalam 5.30. Zohor pukul 1.30 camtu, Asar 5.30 lebih, Maghrib almost 9, and Isyak 11 lebih! Okay, cuba bayangkan bulan puasa nanti. Peh! Tak kelakar beb! Bersyukur aku jadi warga Malaysia.
